Kris Meeke moves into the lead of Rally Spain on day two

Kris Meeke took the lead of Rally de España on Saturday evening, with a 13s gap to second-placed Sébastien Ogier, whose bid for a fifth consecutive world title looked stronger than ever after main rival Thierry Neuville hit trouble. Meeke’s only win of a troubled year was in Mexico in March, but he caught his rivals asleep when the action switched to smooth asphalt after a dusty Friday on dirt. He won the opening speed test to vault from third to first.
