Solberg retires from top-level motorsport

One-time World Rally champion Petter Solberg has announced his retirement from top-flight motorsport. Solberg will remain active in motorsport and will continue to compete on selected events - including a fan-friendly farewell tour for 2019 - but says he will not chase a fourth world championship. Solberg, who has been competing at the highest level for the last 20 years, won the 2003 World Rally Championship and the first two World RX titles in 2014 and '15. The PSRX Volkswagen Sweden team that Solberg owns 'paused' its involvement in WRX for 2019, but the WRC champion aided Volkswagen's development of its Polo WRC2 car and drove it on Rally Spain.
